Security & Signatures

All giovium desktop and mobile releases are securely signed to ensure authenticity and integrity:

• Mobile (iOS & Android): Apps are signed and available on their respective stores. The files are verified by Apple and Android upon launch to prevent tampering. For your safety, do not use any jailbroken or rooted devices.
• Windows: Available in MSIX format on the Microsoft Store and as a standalone download. Both versions are securely signed by our developer certificate and Microsoft. MSIX is a modern package format for Windows 10 and 11 that allows for more secure file management, clean uninstallation, and strict anti-tampering enforcement.
• macOS: Signed with official Developer profile and notarized by Apple. The codesignature verifies the files, and moreover the binary verifies its files upon start.
• Linux: AppImage distributed with a detached signature that can be verified using the PGP public key.

Updates

giovium has zero tracking links or connections to external servers; the only server the client contacts is your configured server. Therefore, you manage updates and check your current version in the following ways. Check the changelog below to verify the latest version:

• Mobile: Updates are managed by the iOS App Store and Google Play Store. Simply update it regularly like your other apps. You can check the version in the respective app store.
• Desktop: If you download the standalone app, you must update manually. For store apps (like the Microsoft Store), updates are automatically managed by the store. You can view your current version from the menu bar within the application.
• Server: You must update the server manually. The version is displayed in the console when the server starts.
