How to Choose a Good Master Password
Passphrases over Passwords
Your Master Password is the only key that can unlock your giovium vault. The server cannot save you if you lose it, and the server cannot protect you if it's too weak.
Select 4 to 6 completely random, unrelated words (e.g., 'cactus window blue zebra guitar'). This creates a massively entropic key while remaining exceptionally easy for human memory to retain.
The Diceware Method
The EFF (Electronic Frontier Foundation) recommends using a physical pair of dice and a curated wordlist to generate passphrases. Rolling five dice provides a perfectly unique index allowing true geographic randomness absent of psychological human biases.
Everyday Example
Don't try to be a human random number generator; humans are terrible at it. We tend to use dates, names, or keyboard patterns (like 'qwerty'). Instead, grab a standard dictionary and blindly point at 5 random pages. You might get 'mountain orbit velvet jump static'. It's easy for your brain to visualize a velvet mountain, but impossible for computers to guess.
The Deep Mathematics
If an independent process selects N words from a dictionary of size W, assuming uniform distribution with zero heuristic correlation, the entropy scales exactly at N * log2(W) bits. An incredibly robust EFF short-list (W = 7776 words) using 6 randomly rolled words hits 77.5 bits of true entropy, comfortably resting beyond the limits of massive botnet parallelization.
